In 2013, Poly’s organization shifted into three primary teams to guide the overall decision-making. The Tactical Departmental Leadership Team consisted of department heads; The Strategic Team consisted of WASC leads and key teachers to guide conversations around curriculum, instruction and assessment from an aggregate view; The Pride Global Team comprised all student and parent groups with our WASC leads on Culture and Vision/Organization.
The Strategic Team is designed to support ongoing continuous improvement through strategic initiatives and systems - all of which encompass our WASC Focus on Learning Areas of 1) Standards Based Student Learning: Curriculum; 2) Standards Based Student Learning: Assessment; and 3) Standards Based Student Learning: Assessment. Members from the three critical areas defined by WASC are joined by an additional teacher from English, Math, Science, Social Science, VAPA, AVID, Academic English Learner Program, Puente, Personalized Learning, Advanced Placement Academy, WASC Chair and CTE. The Strategic Team meets twice yearly in non-WASC years [October and May] and reports to staff about progress indicators related to the school-wide plan. During an accreditation year, the Strategic Team will meet monthly. The Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment SBSL groups meet monthly as well [during an accreditation year]. In off years, only the Strategic Team meets. Communication with committee members occurs in November and June during two targeted staff meetings where the action plan items are addressed.
